| If you are in the 8th grade or higher, and know and love Basketball, we would like to encourage you to be a referee and/or scorekeeper. Games are mostly played on Saturdays with some games likely on Sunday. The season runs from early December until early-March. To qualify, you must submit an application and W-4 form. Basketball Referees Although LMYA uses professional adult referees, most of our youth referees are current or former LMYA Basketball players. A referee must be in the 8th grade in order to ref or scorkeep and attend training. Returning referees must attend a refresher class each year. Referee applicants will be evaluated at the mandatory training before being accepted into the program.
Crew Chiefs LMYA is happy to once again have an incentive program to keep good referees. Crew chiefs will be in charge of a group of referees for the season. They will schedule their group of refs for their assigned gym. Crew Chiefs must be in 10th grade and have refing experience. Mandatory Training All potential referees and scorekeepers must attend a mandatory training session on November 17th from times 930am-11am for new refs and 11am-12pm for returning refs. Pay $10 per game for new refs $11 per game for 1 year experience $12 per game for 2 years or more experience $13 per game for crew chiefs (must be in 10th grade and higer and have experience)
