The sport of Volleyball is the second most popular sport in the world.  At LMYA we strive to provide a safe environment in which to honor this sport.  We make it available at a good price and we run it with the best help we can find.[1]

Global and local facts:

·         On the men's side (with three gold medals), the US has the most decorated volleyball Olympian, Karch Kiraly.  Karch and your LMYA Volleyball Commissioner once took a drive together.

·         In the last Olympics (2008), U.S.A. won gold in 4 out of the 5 volleyball events.  As USA Volleyball CEO, Doug Beal says, this has never happened before -by any nation. Doug has ties to Lamorinda.

·         Locally, we have a rich foundation to inspire volleyball development.  Orinda produced an Olympian.  In Moraga, St. Mary's College (SMC) has a coach who (besides winning 2009's WCC coach of the year award), has served on the coaching staff of three USA National teams. 

The result of this fertile soil is clear:  a local high school won the state championship (twice in the past 5 years) and the clubs on which many of our residence play are nationally recognized.

But it starts here.  And it does not have to end in the Olympics or a state title…it can be just for fun!

LMYA offers...

·         A ten-week recreation program whose design is sought after by other cities

·         Trainers to help parent-coaches (including NCAA-D1 players, and state champions)

·         Clinics for players and coaches (in 2011: three by SMC, two by Campolindo High)

·         Three Monday sessions of clinic + scrimmage to galvanize skill development

·         Coach-led weekly practice and 8 Saturday matches including a tournament

·         Competition at multiple ability levels (5th - 8th grade in 3 divisions)

·         A fabulous Evaluation Day, Coach's Kick-off, and nearly 100 T-shirts awarded

·         Plus, a family volleyball picnic in May

I hope you will consider this program as your child's first step into the world of volleyball.  For me, it's been a wonderful life-long ride.  My goal is to make it the same for you and your family.
